What Does Chiropractic Care Involve?

The goal of chiropractic treatment is always to provide fast pain relief to the patient, which is why we always treat patients on the first visit (unlike other chiropractic clinics).

Then we combine our scientifically proven treatments with exercise to provide long-term results. Chiropractic patients will often report an improvement in their symptoms after one session and most conditions will resolve within 4-12 sessions.

Your chiropractor will let you know how many sessions it should take to see an improvement during your initial consultation.

CHIROPRACTOR FAQ’s

Find answers below to our most frequently asked questions about Osteopathy

What is an Osteopath?

An Osteopath is a medical professional who specialises in the diagnosis and treatment of musculoskeletal conditions. Osteopaths must undertake 4 or 5 year degree in Osteopathy and be registered with the General Osteopathic Council (GOsC) The title Osteopath is protected under law, meaning that you cannot refer to yourself as an Osteopath unless you are registered with the General Osteopathic Council.

A chiropractor treats neuromusculoskeletal conditions such as back pain, neck pain and sports injuries. They are renowned as specialists in spinal and joint manipulation, although at Pro Performance our chiropractors also use many other gentle mobilisations, soft tissue treatments and rehab exercises to help patients get lasting results.
Chiropractors treat a vast range of neuro-musculoskeletal conditions including low back pain, neck pain, sciatica and headaches to name just a few. See our conditions list for a full breakdown of problems we can help with.
Historically chiropractors would solely use manipulation of the spine to treat patients and osteopaths would take a more holistic approach to treatment. However, at Pro Performance, our chiropractors and osteopaths work in a modern way that combines treatment modalities. Both our chiropractors and osteopaths use a combination of spinal manipulation, soft tissue treatment and rehab techniques to provide lasting relief from pain.
Chiropractic medicine is a non-technical term that refers to the practice of chiropractic.
Yes, sciatica refers to compression of the sciatic nerve. This commonly occurs when the intervertebral discs in the lumbar spine bulge. Chiropractors are experts in treating these conditions.
Yes, back pain has many causes. A chiropractor will be able to diagnose and manage all types of back pain.
Qualified chiropractors are awarded the title “Doctor of Chiropractic”. They are not medical doctor’s and don’t pretend to be, as they believe in restoring optimal function to the body to improve health, as opposed to a medical approach instead of managing symptoms with medication.
Our initial chiropractic consultation and treatment costs £110 and a follow up session can vary from £70-80 depending on who you see.

Yes, every patient undergoes a very thorough case history and physical exam before being treated. The most common risk associated with treatment is some mild soreness for 24-48 hours. However, we always adjust the intensity of treatment to the individual. So if you are a 95 year old granny, then you will get a very light session compared to a 95kg rugby player!

Yes, tennis elbow, runner’s knee, you name it we treat it!
